Do we really adapt well?

We place ourselves at the top of the food chain. We think of the earth as “Our Planet”. Does the planet really belong to us, creatures who cannot even set their thoughts straight?

Haven’t you ever noticed that we always argue when our beliefs are challenged but agree when we know it is the truth?

……

Don’t agree?

Think of the most awaited smartphone of the year. What would you do if i said that your were mistaken and that X topped the list instead of Y. Even if the smartphone you chose was in fact inferior, you will always find one way or the other to prove your phone better. Why? It’s because that belief that Y was the most awaited phone of the year was not just a simple thought that popped in your head. After hours of watching YouTube videos, reading tech magazines, reading specs you decided that Y was “the phone”.

Okay, lets try another one.

Imagine getting depressed over lack of gains even after working so hard at the gym. Then the next day you meet up with friends. They make fun of you. They compare you with some other guy and admire the other guy. Most of us, in this situation, argue. Yes, we argue. But, there is a catch. Try guessing what is the difference between the argument earlier and this one. No idea?

In this situation we don’t argue that we are better, we argue that it was because of some thing else, such as not having enough free time to eat as needed and so on.

Be it the truth or a lie, we just do not seem to look at the world the way we should. We just don’t seem to get the concept of an open mind. What I am trying to say is that the so called “beliefs” block our path to the success we dream of. Most of you might have already removed those obstacles. But, many of us, if we want to do something in life, still need to understand the “Open Mind Concept” and implement it.
